Update 11/14/08 House Break Ins

E-mail Print PDF

Greetings:

There have been several housebreaks in the Forest Park neighborhoods of Kimberly Ave, Forest park Ave and lower Sumner Ave. They have occurred during the daytime hours. Yesterday we received a call from a resident on Kimberly Ave that she heard someone in her basement. When police arrived they found a 23 year old Hispanic male who resides on Oakland St crouched in the basement. He was arrested by several officers including the officer assigned to the extra detail at the X. He got into the house by crawling under the porch and pried open a cellar window. He was carrying a backpack for his ill gotten gains. This is the same MO on several breaks. We have been able to tie him into another break using fingerprints and are still working on the other housebreaks.

Please make sure your cellar windows are secured as possible. Remember what I always say, lights, camera and action. Please be alert to any suspicious people walking in your neighborhood especially if you see them on more than 1 occasion and they don’t live there.  Call the non-emergency number 787-6302 of 911 and give the best description you can of the person and if they are in a vehicle safely get the plate number. Those of you with dogs, it would be a great time to go out with them for a walk with your cell phone and give us a call with all the information.

Please refer to our website at www.springfieldpolice.net for a look at our arrest log. AR 08-5999

There was a house fire last night at 63 Commonwealth Ave and I wanted to re-assure you that it was a young lady resident of the house who forgot to check on the boiling oil she had on the stove. The kitchen sustained heavy damage
